What We Do:

Pathways Therapeutic Pool provides rehabilitation and developmental supports, as well as healing and relaxing experiences for the mind & body!

Our newly renovated therapeutic pool features the highest water quality, including a UV filter system, media water filter and automated chlorination system. These features will provide lower chlorine levels while maintaining the highest water quality for our patrons. In addition, the pool temperature is maintained between 86ºF to 88ºF. These temperatures ensure maximum therapeutic, health, and wellness benefits for all users. The pool is 20’ x 60’ and our pool depth progresses from 3’ to 5’ in the deep end.

The facility is also equipped with:

The Pathways Aquatics Team, is a group of hardworking, passionate lifeguards and swim instructors dedicated to providing quality therapeutic aquatic programming to the clients of Pathways Health Centre for Children as well as other members of the community.

What level should you sign your child up for?

Can I wear my shoes on pool deck?

In order to keep our pool deck clean and for patron safety, we ask that you not wear street shoes in the shower or deck areas. Please bring a separate pair of indoor, non-slip shoes if you wish to have something on your feet.

What do I do if my child is sick?

For the safety and comfort of all staff and other patrons, we ask that you do not bring your child to their scheduled programming if they are sick.

What kinds of options are there for swimming lessons?

At Pathways Pool, we offer several different types of swimming lessons:

Group lessons: Individual child registration based on level. The child will be placed in a group with 4-6 other children in the same level, where they will all be taught by 1 instructor.

Private lessons: 1-on-1 lessons between a child and their instructor.

Semi-private lessons: 2-on-1 lessons between 2 children at similar skill levels and their instructor. There is only one registration for both children.

Is the pool accessible to the community or only Pathways clients?

Pathways pool is accessible to the public, not just clients of Pathways. We offer therapeutic aquatic programming for all.

How do I register for a swim? Is there a pool schedule?

To register for a swim or view the pool schedule, click on the tabs, “To create a SmartRec account” or “Pool Schedule.” This will bring you to SmartRec, our online registration platform.

Does the pool offer Swimming Lessons and Infant Swims?

Yes! The pool offers a variety of swimming lessons as well as infant swims such as Parent & Tot.

Does the pool offer Adult, Senior, or Aqua fitness?

Yes, the pool offers a variety of adult programs such as adult therapeutic leisure swim and aqua fitness. Visit the Amilia SmartRec to view the schedule and see what programming is available.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No, there is no doctor referral needed to swim at Pathways Pool.

Are there lockers available in the facility?

Yes, lockers are available, you must provide your own lock.

Am I able to rent the facility for private use or agency use?

Yes, the pool is available for private or agency rentals. Please contact the aquatics office at aquatics@pathwayscentre.org to book.

Can additional family members attend?

No, additional family members not explicitly registered for programming may not attend but are welcome to watch from the viewing room.

Does my child need to wear a swim diaper in the pool?  If so, what kind?

Yes, young children and infants not yet fully toilet trained need to wear a swim diaper in the pool. This swim diaper should be waterproof, reusable and well-fitted.

How many swimming lessons are run at the same time?

During private and semi-private swimming lessons, there are 3-4 groups of children in the pool at the same time.

Should I send my child in a swim shirt?

No, swim shirts are meant to protect skin from the sun, swim shirts are harder to swim in, keep children colder and alter the pools chemistry.

What happens if there is a pool fouling?

Unfortunately, on occasion, pools have to be closed unexpectedly due to a pool fouling. If classes are canceled due to a fouling a credit will be issued. Please exercise caution and feed your child/ren after their lesson or 2 hours before. Please encourage your child/ren to use the washroom before entering the pool.
